This research aimed (1) to examine the
use of energy by household sector in Thailand
and (2) to determine rankings on energy saving
prior to the implementation of, and after the
completion of a public relations campaign
project for energy saving funded by the Ministry
of Energy for promoting energy conservation in
2016. The population of this study was from six
regions, in which two provinces were selected
from each region according to the level of energy
consumption from the highest to the lowest.
Data were collected from 1,778 subjects from
both prior to the implementation and after the
completion of the campaign which made a total
of 3,556 subjects. A questionnaire was used to
collected data. The data collected were analyzed
in terms of percentage and mean. Furthermore,
the researchers employed a t-test technique and
Chi-Squared (x 2^"2" -test). Findings are as follows:
Prior to the campaign, the sample population
from the regions paid attention to energy saving
in the following descending order: northeastern
and western, eastern, northern and central
regions, and southern. After the campaign, the
regions prioritized energy saving in the following
descending order: northeastern, central, eastern,
western, northern, and southern regions, respectively.
In regard to lifestyle and energy saving, it
was found that after the campaign, the overall
mean was higher than prior to the implementation
of the campaign and behavior in energy
saving was also evident at a high level. The most
frequently perceived project was “Combine Energy
Divide by Two, Think Before Use”.
