Abstract

The narrative study aimed to narrate in pain experience and management on pain in children and family. The person who gave the data are families in children age 8-12 who were in pain and got cure on lumbar puncture in In patient Department, Chemotherapy pediatric ward. Twelve families that had qualification were particularly selected to visit when they have free time. The method used to collect the data was qualitative by in-depth interview, observation was without participation and field recorded between April-June 2019. Checking of reliability of data. The researcher used the Criteria of Lincoln and Guba. The study result were 1. The meaning of pain. The points were found 1) is a tormented feeling, 2) is difficult to be patient. 2. To manage pain by the family. The points were found 1) telling to be patient 2) taking medicine 3) to deviate interest 4) giving encourage. The study result making an in-depth and comprehensive understanding about pain experience and strategies to alleviate to pain of the family and children who had pain. This knowledge gained from the study can used as a practice way of alleviating the pain children and family correctly in accordance with the need and being the way for administrating nursing care, education include research in nursing is relevant to the data.
