The purposes of this research were to study the state of performance according to a model job description for teacher profession of the teachers and the school administrators under the Office of Buriram Provincial Primary Education, and the opinions of the teachers and the school administrators based on sex, age, and working experience. The 12 model job descriptions were: 1) performing the academic activities on teacher profession development regularly, 2) making decisions on performing various activities by concerning on what to happen with the students, 3) trying to teach the students with full potential, 4) improving the active lesson plans, 5) developing the effective teaching materials, 6) arranging the lessons emphasizing the long-term on students, 7) reporting the results of student development with an appropriate system, 8) conducting their own behaviors as good models for students, 9) cooperating creatively with other school staff, 10) cooperating creatively with other people in the community, 11) collecting and using information as a resource for student development, and 12) providing opportunities for students to learn at all time. The samples for this study were 375 primary school teachers and 285 administrators under the Office of Buriram Provincial Primary Education for the total of 660 people. The instruments used in collecting data were the rating scale questionnaires. The statistics used in data analysis were the percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The hypotheses were tested by means of t-test independent, One-way Analysis of Variance and the Scheffe’s Method. The results of the study were: 1) The results of an analysis of the state of performance according a model job descriptions for teacher profession of the primary school teachers under the Office of Buriram Provincial Primary Education in the opinions of the teachers as a whole, it was found that the primary school teachers performed the model job descriptions for teacher profession at high level. By considering at each aspect of the job description, it was found that 10 aspects were performed at high level and 12 aspects at moderate level. The 3 aspects from the top means in the consecutive orders were conducting their own behaviors as good models for students, cooperating creatively with other school staff, and arranging the lessons emphasizing the long-term impacts on students. The aspect with the least mean was performing the academic activities on teacher profession development regularly. 2) The results of an analysis of the state of performance according a model job descriptions for teacher profession of the primary school teachers under the Office of Buriram Provincial Primary Education in the opinions of the administrators as a whole, it was found that the primary school teachers performed the model job descriptions for teacher profession at high level. The aspect with the least mean was performing the academic activities on teacher profession development regularly. 3) The results of the comparison of the state of performance according a model job descriptions for teacher profession of the primary school teachers both collectively and partially in the opinions of the teachers and administrators based on sex, it was found that the performance of the model job descriptions for teacher profession of the primary school teachers were not significantly different. 4) The results of the comparison of the state of performance according a model job descriptions for teacher profession of the primary school teachers both collectively and partially in the opinions of the teachers and administrators based on age, it was found that the performance of the model job descriptions for teacher profession of the primary school teachers were not significantly different. 5) The results of the comparison of the state of performance according a model job descriptions for teacher profession of the primary school teachers both collectively and partially in the opinions of the administrators based on age, it was found that as a whole the performance of the model job descriptions for teacher profession of the primary school teachers were not significant different. From the comparison of each pair, it was found that the performance on the performing the academic activities on teacher profession development regularly and the reporting the results of student development with an appropriate system were at significant level of .05. 6) The results of the comparison of the state of performance according a model job descriptions for teacher profession of the primary school teachers in the opinions of the teachers and the administrators based on working experience, it was found that both as a whole and pair comparison the performance in every aspect were not significantly different. |
