Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of health education group program with electronic media (Facebook) on skill development for adolescent pregnancy prevention among female students in Grade 7 in Muang District of Buriram Province. Research participants comprised a total of 57 female students enrolled in Grade 7 of the academic year 2020 under supervision of the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 32 of Buriram Province. The sample was obtained using multistage sampling method. The research tools consisted of health education group program with electronic media (Facebook), a questionnaire examining knowledge and understanding of premature pregnancy prevention, life skills assessment form focusing on selfawareness, self-esteem and effective communication, and sexual risk behavior assessment form. Statics used were descriptive statics, including mean, standard deviation, and score comparison before and after an experiment of knowledge and understanding of adolescent pregnancy prevention, life skills, and pregnancy prevention behaviors using paired t-test. Findings revealed that the participants’ scores in knowledge of adolescent pregnancy prevention were significantly higher than those before participating in the program whereas their scores in sexual risk prevention behaviors increased insignificantly (P-value of .05).
